Two Cents

I had a coworker who used to be very confused about how often I’d take things on the proverbial chin.  He’d warn:  “You teach people how to treat you”.

The difference, I felt, between us, was that he had a trade, and I have grade 12.  He could stand up and walk out and be gainfully employed at any moment – at a rate of pay comparable or higher than what he currently had.  I could not.  I was as replaceable as a diaper, in my opinion.

Also, I’m eager to please.  This throws a very large rusty wrench into determining how people treat you.  You want them to be pleased with your efforts; telling them to ‘step off’ in any decent manner is something that will not please them.

He wasn’t wrong – I look over all of my friendships and relationships with everyone I’ve met.  I have dictated…
